Mazhab E Aman

The call for Indian Muslims to lead the crusade for peace

Modiciti, India; November 17 2016

The world today stands extremely polarised with the recent terrorist attacks and ongoing civil wars that have perpetrated a global political crisis. At the centre of this crisis, deeply contextualised in violent imagery, stands Islam – one of the worlds largest and arguably the fastest growing religions in the world. The message of Islam stands hijacked by self-serving, violent militant groups, who hide political warfare under the garb of holy warfare.

Islam has been wrongfully usurped by a few vested interests that have resulted in conflict and disharmony. This needs to change, and the need for change must come from within the community.

According to population projections, India will become the largest Muslim population in the world in the near future. As a ‘Vishwa Guru’ of the world , it is the prerogative of India’s Islamic scholars to lead the crusade for peace, reaffirm and reiterate the predominant themes of brotherhood and peace within the tenants of Islam. The Global citizen conference ‘Maxhab-E-Aman’ sought to exhort Indian Muslims to take control of this leadership and define the context of change for lasting peace in the world.
