- June 12, 2014

The Global Citizen Forum and Universal Peace Federation call for increased role of Businesses to create Sustainable Development

New York June 12: A reception was held by the Global Citizen Forum (GCF) and the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) in Manhattan recently on the theme of how Business can be used a tool for sustainable development. The reception was jointly hosted by Dr. Bhupendra K Modi, Founder, GCF and Dr. Thomas Walsh, President, UPF.
The reception was attended by many UN dignitaries like H.E. Mr. Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser, High Representative, UNAOC; Mrs. Muna Rihani Al-Nasser, Chairperson, UN Women for Peace; H.E. Mr. Maged A. Abdelaziz USEC, Special Adviser to Africa; H.E. Mr. Noel Sinclair Chef de Cabinet, PGA Office; H.E. Mr. Denis G. Antoine Ambassador of Grenada to UN amongst many others.

The gathering called for an increased role of Businesses in promoting sustainable development by promoting more welfare and inclusive development opportunities. To germane the process of bringing inclusive and sustainable development, it was suggested that the United Nations Organization can led by example by advocating for measures that allow for more representation of member-states within the UN itself. Equitable representation will also result in gradual equitable growth.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Bhupendra K Modi, Chairman of Smart Global, a $2 Billion business conglomerate and founder of the GCF said, “With the culmination of the Millennium Development Goals and the negotiations for the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations in full swing, we need to take into account the communications and technological changes that have affected our world since the 1990’s. A ‘One World’ movement on Sustainable Development is now truly possible because technology has given every citizen of every country the chance to connect with the world.”

Sharing the vision of their founder, Late Reverend Sun Myung Moon, Dr. Thomas Walsh mentioned “Late Reverend Moon had a vision of connecting the whole world through a series of roadway to improve connectivity. In todays’ times technology has become the biggest roadway that connects the world. It is now time to harness this power to promote global development.”

The idea creation of ‘One World’ through promoting sustainable development opportunities was supported by His Excellency Mr. Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser, High Representative of the UN Alliance of civilizations which is a UN body aimed promoting international collaboration through business, sports, culture and other means.
GCF and the UPF also signed an agreement with each other on the occasion, pledging to work together to lead the ‘One World’ initiative and seek to lead the movement by encouraging positive thought and reformation from within the United Nations body.

Press release on The world as One Family @ Varanasi
- May 09, 2014

Dr. Bhupendra K Modi emphasizes on India as Global Peace Leader

Varanasi, May 9, 2014: A conference on the need of Peace becoming a key part of the global agenda was held today at the Ramada Plaza Hotel. Inspired by the teachings of Swami Vivekananda the GCF has propagated his philosophy of “The world as One Family.” India is poised for success as the International Peace leader.

India has a strong history of producing spiritual & cultural leaders. They have strong influence on people across the Globe. For centuries India has been regarded as spiritual hub of the World. And the Holy city of Varanasi has been the epicentre.

Today Indian scenario has changed as compared to last 10 years with a strong youth wave in the country, where Indian youth is more willing to play a part in shaping its future. This year Lok Sabha elections will be witnessing in excess of 120 million youth voters, who have been veering away from old ties of dynasty and forming new allegiances. India, with its vast cultural and religious diversity, is eminently placed to represent different cultures and people.

The role of Global Indians becomes important in this crucial time. With their strong cultural heritage, they can play a key role in mooting the Indian philosophy. The recent research shows that the number of overseas Indians is over 25 million people who are currently registered with the MOIA (Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs). The number is likely to increase in the coming years. And their accumulated remittances to India, is estimated at over USD $62.5 Billion.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Bhupendra Kumar Modi, Founder Chairman, Global Citizen Forum said, “Globally, 3% of the world population is on the move. It is crucial to remember that, a large number of these migrants are economic in nature. India should look to play a key role in specialized agencies and bodies that focus on areas such as migration, global development, international peace and the United Nations. Indian academicians spread across nations, can have a profound effect on the global education system.”

He further said, “America has been the land of opportunities up till now. It has introduced new technologies to the World, but has failed to bring peace. As the World looks for a Peace Leader, It is a time for India to shine”.

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat says Hinduism not ‘ancestral property’ of Indians

Express news service | New Delhi,
11 Oct 2014
Vice-President Hamid Ansari, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, HRD Minister Smriti Irani, prominent Islamic leaders and a Bollywood actor — they all came under one roof on Friday to launch the international edition of Encyclopedia of Hinduism.
The key message from the function was Hinduism is a global legacy, with Bhagwat saying that it is not an “ancestral property” of Indians, but it is for everyone.
“Religion always unites and what divides people is not religion,” he said. Interpreting the word “dharm”, the RSS chief said it has a wider meaning than “religion”.
According to Bhagwat, the Encyclopedia on Hinduism, a project of India Heritage Research Foundation, would help Hindus as well as Indians answer the questions asked about the religion to the next generation and the outside world. Swami Chidanand Saraswati, the founder chairman of the IHRF and spiritual head of the Parmarth Niketan in Rishikesh, stressed that no one can stake claim on Hindu religion. “The wisdom, truths, teachings and insights of Indian and the Hindu culture are not limited to only Hindus or Indians. Rather they belong to the world and can deeply benefit the world,” he said. Imam Umer Ahmed Ilyasi, president All India Imams Organisation, and Dewan Syed Zainul Abedin Ali Khan, Ajmer Darga Sharif, said Hinduism is an “assimilative” religion. Vice-President Ansari, the chief guest at the function, spoke on the history of encyclopaedias. “Available evidence shows that the encyclopaedia ‘industry’ is now flourishing. One count puts the figure of these in the market at anything between six and ten thousand. At this rate, there may even be a need for an encyclopaedia of encyclopaedias,” Ansari said.
